# Relationships and record management

> Link companies, assign owners and tags, follow activity, and archive records safely.

Company relationships describe how two companies are connected. Owners, tags, notes, and activity help your team manage the record itself.

## Link companies

Open a company and add a relationship to another active company in the same workspace. Choose the relationship type that matches the connection. The linked companies remain separate records.

Edit or remove the relationship when the connection changes. Removing a relationship does not archive either company.

## Keep responsibility clear

* **Owners** show which workspace members are responsible for a record.
* **Tags** apply the organization's shared taxonomy to records and meeting material.
* **Notes** hold workspace-specific context that does not belong in a profile field.
* **Activity** records important changes and logged interactions in time order.

Some of these controls require Work or a specific member permission.

## Archive and restore

Archive a company or person when it should leave active lists without losing its history. Archived records keep their stable identity and can be restored.

<Warning>
  Archive is not the same as deleting data. If Floral presents a permanent delete action, read the confirmation carefully and use it only when the organization no longer needs the record or its history.
</Warning>

Search or filter for archived records before creating a replacement. Restoring the existing record usually preserves more useful history than adding a duplicate.
